Description
Soft and fluffy garlic butter dinner rolls, perfect for any meal!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (one packet)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 3 1/2 – 4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the melted butter, salt, and egg to the yeast mixture. Mix until combined.
- Gradually add 3 1/2 cups of flour, mixing on low speed with a dough hook (or by hand) until a soft dough forms.
- If the dough is too sticky, add the remaining 1/2 cup of flour, 2 tablespoons at a time, until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl but is still slightly tacky.
- Knead on a lightly floured surface (or with the mixer on medium speed) for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover with plastic wrap or a damp kitchen towel.
- Let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the risen dough. Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball.
- Place the balls into a greased 9×13-inch baking pan, spacing them evenly. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes, until puffy.
- While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the rolls for 18-22 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
- While the rolls bake, prepare the garlic butter glaze. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and salt.
- As soon as the rolls come out of the oven, brush the warm garlic butter glaze generously over the tops.
- Let the rolls cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes before serving warm.
Notes
- For best results, ensure your yeast is fresh and active.
- You can substitute the all-purpose flour with bread flour for a chewier texture.
- These rolls are best served warm, but can also be reheated in the oven.
