Description

This chili is perfect for topping hot dogs or enjoying on its own.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 ½ tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 12 teaspoons white sugar (or to taste)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a large Dutch oven over medium heat, sauté the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  2. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, chili powder, ground cumin, smoked paprika, dried oregano, garlic powder, cayenne, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  3. Bring the chili to a boil. Once it starts bubbling, turn the heat down and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, or until it thickens.
  4. Spoon the chili over hot dogs and serve.

Notes

  • This chili can be adjusted for spice by adding more or less cayenne pepper.
  • Feel free to add beans if desired for a heartier chili.
