Description
A delicious and creamy bread pudding made with French bread, eggs, and a rich vanilla sauce.

- 16 oz French bread
- 5 large eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1 cup heavy cream (for the sauce)
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1/2 cup sugar (for the sauce)
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for the sauce)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spray a 9″x13″ baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
- Cut the French bread into 1″-2″ squares and place in a large bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, heavy cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread, stir gently, and let sit for 20 minutes.
- Spread the bread mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes until the center is set.
- Meanwhile, in a saucepan, whisk together sugar, flour, and heavy cream for the sauce.
- Add butter and heat on medium until the butter melts and the mixture starts to boil.
- Whisk until thickened, remove from heat, and stir in vanilla.
Notes
- This dish can be served warm or chilled.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days.
