Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans for browned butter chocolate chip pecan cookies
- Optional: Sprinkle of sea salt for browned butter chocolate chip cookies with sea salt
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir constantly until it turns golden brown and smells nutty (about 5–7 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet mixture.
- Fold in chocolate chips (and pecans if using).
- Scoop dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, about 2 tablespoons per cookie.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes, until edges are golden but centers remain soft.
- Let cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- You can use honey instead of granulated sugar for a different flavor.
- Almond flour can be used for a gluten-free version like browned butter almond flour chocolate chip cookies.
