Description

Deliciously fudgy brownies that are easy to make and sure to please any chocolate lover.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or dark chocolate chips or chopped semi-sweet or dark chocolate bar)
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups walnuts (chopped, save some for tops of brownies)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and spray a 9-inch square baking pan lined with parchment paper for easy removal with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Decide if you want stovetop or microwave method, then move on to step 3.
  3. Stovetop Method: In a medium saucepan, melt chocolate chips and butter over low heat. Then, let it cool slightly.
  4. Microwave Method: Melt chocolate chips and butter in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl in 30 second increments stirring every 30 seconds until melted and let cool slightly.
  5. Add sugar and vanilla to the mixture. Once it cools down, add eggs and mix it in.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  7. Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and whisk or stir together until combined well.
  8. Add walnuts to the brownie batter and spread mixture evenly in your prepared pan.
  9. Bake for 25-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let cool completely before cutting into squares. Depending on how fudgy you want the brownies, check at 25 minutes.
  11. Keep in mind that brownies will continue baking once they are pulled from the oven, so do not overbake.

Notes

  • For a more fudgy texture, check the brownies at 25 minutes and take them out when they still appear slightly underbaked.
  • Storing: Keep brownies in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
